Utopia: A new society for all, is a society that exists in concept as well as in physical form as diorama based installation art. This is an experiment in both artistic practice as well as civics and communal living. The modern world and its push for a virtual reality to escape everyday life is working against our instinctive need as humans for community. This project aims to give people an escape from reality while still connecting with people in real life situations.
Below you will find a the Utopia Citizenship Application that will guide you through the process of applying for citizenship. As an inclusive society everyone is welcome to join so long as they agree to the basic tenants of Utopia, outlined in the Citizenship Application below.
Once your Citizenship Application has been completed and submitted an Earthship will be constructed for your miniature representative to reside within. Why an Earthship you ask? Utopia embraces the constructs of sustainable living practices and minimal reliance on public utilities and fossil fuels. A miniature representative will be created in your likeliness based off the photographic documentation you provide.
As the society grows it is inevitable issues will be encountered. As a truly communal society these issues will be addressed through a system of votes cast by citizens. Visitors to Utopia as well as citizens will be able to propose changes and additions which will then be voted on by the citizens and these changes will be carried through by the Facilitator, Becky Wareing Steele.
If you are unable to visit Utopia to witness the growth and development of this new society, photographic documentation will be shared with you through out the process so you can make informed decisions as new measures to vote on arise.
If you have any questions or concerns to voice at this time or through out the process please contact the Facilitator directly by using the CONTACT link at the top of the page.
