Petrified wood is formed through a mineralization process that replaces organic materials with minerals like silica, resulting in a three-dimensional representation of the original tree structure, distinct from typical plant fossils that are impressions or compressions. In some instances fossilized wood may partially retain the original stem tissue structure.
This piece of petrified wood is home to a couple of hand-painted 1:160 scale figures, so no two works are alike.
Measures approximately 2.75” x 3” x 3”.
